I was looking for cute Halloween recipes to make for my Red Hat Halloween party. These are all very nice recipes but some of the ingredients needed for them (blood oranges, Bing cherries just to name a couple) are impossible to get in my area this time of year. Most of the punches use some kind of alchohol, which I would like, but are not suitable for my Red Hat ladies. Actually I think giving them all a snoot full would liven them up some but not appropriate for those on heart meds. Also they have to drive home! No one would want a hammered old lady on the road now would they...lol! Otherwise this collection of recipes would be the envy of any Halloween party.Product details

The author sent me a complimentary copy of the book for review, and after reading it I am sure the kids in his/her neighborhood avoid this house on Halloween! I can only imagine the treats they might find in their bags!
Vampires are the hottest trend out there now. Abe Lincoln is killing them, Edward Cullen is making them, and Sookie Stackhouse is endlessly cavorting with them. The only thing left to do is to cook for them, and this is just the book to help you do that.
As a kid, Halloween was always my favorite holiday, and I always wanted to throw a Halloween party to end all parties. So, it is no surprise that I absolutely love cookbooks that specialize in spooky recipes. Sure, we all could made ladyfingers that look like actual ladies fingers, and we could have red jello out the wazoo, but I would want to step it up a notch, and this book provides endless ways to do this.
This book provides so many recipes that sound so delicious it is scary. Plus they look gross and bloody. Who would not love that. This cookbook does call for a bit more sophisticated cooking skills, probably not a great book for a beginner or kids, although there are some recipes that would be appropriate, such as the appetizers or desserts. A lot of the recipes call for blood oranges, which may be a bit difficult for some people to find in small town grocery stores. However, these recipes are so tasty sounding, it would be worth the effort to find the blood oranges.
All in all, this cookbook is amazing. Vamp lovers will greatly appreciate it, and many foodies will as well.
This cookbook is very tongue in cheek (fang in cheek?) with the vampire theme, but the recipes are actually really good! They are written for anyone who is familiar with cooking to be able to follow and enjoy.
Recipes inspired by vampires and werewolves are simply fun. Many of the recipes in this book do not require too many odd ingredients. There are snacks, main dishes, cocktails, and desserts. The recipes are not overly complicated and for some of the simpler ones, kids can help. This was a fun cookbook.
